Remembrance of a Surveyor’s Legacy: Robert “Bob” Cummings

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Robert Wayne “Bob” Cummings, RPLS No. 4060. Born on November 26, 1944, and passing on August 21, 2025, Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, veteran, and surveyor whose life was marked by service, adventure, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Licensed as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in 1982, Bob dedicated more than 30 years to the profession before his retirement in 2012. As Past President of TSPS Chapter 5 in 2009, his leadership and commitment to the surveying community left a lasting impact. Bob’s passion extended beyond surveying—he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and training Labradors, even serving as a boat captain for the Franklin County High School Fishing Team. His adventurous spirit and dedication to family, friends, and colleagues enriched the lives of all who knew him.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob served from 1968 to 1973 and was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. His service and character reflected the same sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His contributions to TSPS, the surveying profession, and his community will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Please follow TSPS Chapter 5 on LinkedIn and check our events calendar for details about the Final Point Ceremony honoring his life and achievements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lamb-Star Foundation.
