Staying current is essential as technologies evolve, regulations change, and licensing standards shift. TSPS offers continuing education to keep you updated, along with tools to help you start, run, and manage your surveying business

TSPS also provides educational opportunities throughout the year at discounted rates, and for PDHs. Members can track their PDHs through their personal profiles, with certificates available for printing anytime. Check the Chapter 5 – Dallas Calendar for upcoming educational events.

Scholarships

The Texas Surveyors Foundation, Inc. (TSFI) and the John Pierce Education Assistance Fund (JPEAF) is proud to offer scholarship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate Texas land surveying students enrolled in qualified land surveying programs. The John Pierce Education Assistance Fund (JPEAF) Scholarship

Amount: Varies (up to 100% of tuition/books)

Application Deadlines: Must be received within 30 days of the end of the semester

TSFI Scholarship

Amount: Varies (up to 100% of tuition)

  • Fall Semester – September 15

CESAR QUIROGA Scholarship

Amount: $2,500.00

Application Deadlines:    April 30, 2025

Who is encouraged to apply: All current undergraduate or post-graduate level students studying engineering or surveying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are the common, general eligibility requirements for our scholarships. Please visit each scholarship’s individual application page for details on that specific scholarship’s guidelines.

  1. The applicant must be a Texas resident with proof of residency.
  2. The applicant must be a collegiate student currently enrolled or admitted to a college or university offering surveying-related courses.
  3. Financial need as well as scholastic achievement will be a factor in determining scholarship recipients.
  4. A letter of recommendation
  5. A brief autobiography describing career plans, reason for applying, and reason for choosing Land Surveying as a career.
  6. A submission of a completed application and transcript.

Applications received after the deadlines described in each scholarship’s guidelines will not be considered.

Yes. You may apply to either or both scholarships as well as outside ones available to you. However, our tight-knit surveying community keeps track, and seeking additional funds can impact your allocation. This ensures integrity and fairness for all aspiring land surveyors.

It is recommended that your letter of recommendation be written by a department chair, academic advisor at your university, employers in land surveying, or TSPS Committee Members in good standing.

An official transcript is a complete record of a student’s academic achievements. It lists all the courses taken, grades earned and may include additional information such as rank in class and accreditation of the institution. Official transcripts are issued directly by the college or university and bear the official seal and signature.

Applicants should send their transcripts to the addresses listed on the scholarship’s directions page. If they are unable to send the transcripts directly to the designated address, they should first mail their official transcript to themselves. Once received, they can then forward the unopened and untampered transcript to the designated address. The original envelope must remain sealed upon arrival.

During the selection process, if it is determined that you do not meet the eligibility requirements or you have missing documents, your application will not be considered, and you will not be notified.

If our scholarship committee has any questions about your application, we may reach out. Once the scholarship recipients have been selected, you will be notified whether or not you received the scholarship.

Scholarship recipients will be announced prior to the end of your next school semester and will be notified via email.

Scholarship recipients are generally selected based on the following criteria: a student’s academic standing, potential contribution to the engineering profession, and timely submission of all required documents. However, each scholarship has different selection and qualification criteria.

All scholarship recipients will be required to submit the following information:

JPEAF Scholarship:

  • Confirmation of Address: you will need to confirm your address once contacted by TSPS Dallas – Chapter 5 so that the check can be sent to you.

Scholarship recipients will also be asked to provide the following:

  • Headshot/Bio – this will be used to publicize our scholarship winners and may be shared on our website, social media, and emails. There are no specific requirements for the headshot or the length of the bio.

If you are selected as a scholarship recipient for JPEAF, a check will be sent to your confirmed address. A completed Headshot/Bio submission will also need to be returned to us prior to funds being sent.
